November at Glow: Community, Growth & Celebration

October has been nothing short of amazing here at Glow Yoga & Wellness. This past month reminded us how much stronger we are together in spirit, in practice, and in community.

This month, we're celebrating a huge milestone that filled us with pride and joy. Twenty Two (22!) Glow Members completed over twelve classes last month, earning their Self-Care Rewards. It is a true reflection of the dedication and love you all pour into your practice. Please take part in our November Social Challenge by bringing 3 friends to Glow. Last month we enjoyed our sweet little Halloween celebration, crafting adorable Holiday Cards and Christmas Tree Ornaments for the season to come.

Our teachers' team has also been growing in beautiful ways. This fall, we have welcomed Ashima Sarin, who is guiding us into the healing energy of Medical Qi Gong; Anne Barbaret, who shares thoughtful alignment of Iyengar Yoga; Anna Bolender, who opens doors into somatic healing; and Era Osibe, who fills the studio with the joy of Tango. Each one of them adds a new dimension to the Glow experience, helping us expand the ways we care for body, mind, and spirit.

As we grow, so does our team. We are currently looking for Yoga and Pilates teachers, as well as gifted massage therapist, to share their expertise with our community. If you know someone you love in this field, we would love your help in spreading the word.

This month, our focus turns to Peaceful Contemtment and feeling grateful and enough, inspired by the yogic practice of Santosha. In our classes, we will be exploring how our loving presence builds priceless memories and deep connections - more valuable than any posessions.

We are deeply grateful for the magic we have already experienced this fall and for the new chapters we are writing together. Thank you for showing up for yourself and for one another.

Let us keep growing, appreciating, and celebrating together this month.

With love and gratitude,
Your Glow Team

Dear Glow Community,

November is the harvest season, a season of celebrating what we are and what we have accomplished. This month, we’re exploring Santosha Niyama—our capacity to feel content and happy, to slow down, step out of the race, and appreciate both the bigger picture and the small, beautiful moments. What often stands in the way is that inner voice urging us to chase more - more success, more variety, more of everything. Even the idea of 'becoming our best self' can subtly imply that who we are right now isn’t enough. When we postpone happiness until we’ve reached some ideal version of ourselves, that happiness remains just out of reach, always in the future.

This cycle of insatiable thinking can be a major source of unfulfillment, anxiety, and even depression, ultimately affecting our health, relationships, and the environment. To get more ideas on supporting yourself, please listen 🎧 to my Podcast Episode on 'Brain Care for Mental Health'.

Both, Yogic and Buddhist teachings remind us that the path to contentment lies in embracing life fully, with all its difficulties, without judgment or striving for external circumstances to be a certain way. There is a way to walk through life with calm and gratitude, while still taking meaningful steps toward the well-being of all.

The monthly contemplations are:

  • Can I acknowledge my needs without waiting for them to be fulfilled before allowing myself to enjoy life as is?

  • Am I embracing and loving myself as I am - imperfect, unique, and human - with all my past and all current challenges that come along?

  • Am I allowing myself to sit with discomfort, sadness, loneliness, and frustration, without judging or distracting myself from these feelings?

  • Am I continuously aware of the totality and miracles of life, including the painful parts?

  • When I am safe, can I be at peace, present, and still without needing to be anywhere else?

  • Can we remain content and grounded, without constantly chasing something outside of ourselves?

  • Am I connecting with this person before me for the sacredness of connection itself, or as a means to a future outcome?

Take time this month to reflect on this beautiful practice - see how you can weave it into daily life and expand your sense of gratitude, both for the big and small blessings. I look forward to seeing you in classes!

Sending so much love. Let's stay curious to look for better self-care that serves our well-being, connections, and success in every area of this fascinating human experience ❤️❤️❤️

Seasonal Tip: Warm your body and soothe heavy emotions with ginger lemon tea.

  • Slice a few thin rounds of ginger root

  • Add 2 slices of fresh lemon

  • Simmer gently in water for 10 minutes

  • Finish with a drizzle of honey if you like

This bright, warming tea supports immunity, circulation, and comfort during the darker days of autumn. 💛 We’ll be offering warm ginger lemon tea at Glow all month: please treat yourself when you come in. Let it be a reminder that forgiveness, like tea, softens and warms us from the inside out.

I look forward to seeing you this month as we breathe together, release together, and step into the beauty of autumn. 🍂  Please join our classes this month  - we'll be considering the embodiment of Santosha from different angles.

Sending so much love. Let's stay curious about self-care that serves our well-being, connection, and growth in every area of our precious life ❤️❤️❤️

Recipe
FALL RECIPE: EASY PUMPKIN CURRY
  • Gluten-free

  • Packed with protein (30g-40g/serving)

  • Full of Fiber (20g/serving from all ingredients)

Cut in half and bake butternut squash in the oven for 45-60 minutes at 400F.  While the squash is baking, in the large stove pot, add olive oil and half a red onion chopped, 1 tablespoon of grated ginger, 5oz of shiitake mushrooms (optional), and 1 package of tofu, stir fry that for 10-20 minutes until onions are soft. Add 1 chopped red bell pepper, 1,5 cups of cooked and rinsed garbanzo beans, and 3 tablespoons of Red Curry Paste. If you prefer a sweeter curry, add 2 tablespoons of brown or coconut sugar. Mix that all, then add 2 cans of coconut milk. Let it boil for 2 minutes, then add 1 cup of basil leaves or cilantro.

Once the squash is baked, I let it cool for 15 minutes, then cut it into large chunks and serve my curry over the squash!  Definitely squeeze some lime on it, and add more herbs if you like. It tastes like FALL!
